Fierce: showing a heartfelt and powerful intensity
Where I live: Windsor, NS
What I do for work: I am a Project Manager for Eleanor Beaton & Co. and I co-own and manage with my husband a standardbred racehorse operation and farm.
3 words my friends would use to describe me: Honest, funny, quirky
My vision of a perfect Saturday: An early morning where I am the first one up and I get to enjoy some quiet time while drinking my coffee and browsing through a magazine. I look out the window to a sunny, snowless landscape and I spend time outside enjoying our farm and animals or maybe even go for a long drive with my hubby. A few friends drop in for a surprise visit that evening and we share lots of laughs, Bella Roma pizza, and watermelon sherbert for dessert.
My top 3 personal or professional WINS from the last month: Conquering a few website and internet challenges which plagued me the last few weeks, using the internet to find a way of saving a significant amount of money on a work-related purchase, & getting my daughter's baby book up-to-date.
My 2-sentence definition of success: Feeling content that I’ve done what I set out to do and did it as well or better than I had planned. Not having any regrets.
The most courageous thing I did in the last year: Traveled alone on a plane for 3 hours with a lively one-year old child. (The thought of it was scarier than the reality.)
The advice I would give to my younger self: Travel and experience as much as possible. It will help you find your own true path in life and open many doors for your future self.
A book that changed my life: "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" by Oliver Sacks is one of the few books I've read more than once. It really makes me think and reflect about how complex our brains really are and how easily we can lose what we take for granted everyday.
What change are you working to create in your life, community or through your work? Personally, I want to strive to be a role model for my daughter and younger generations, especially young women. I want them to have confidence in themselves and their own individuality and to know that's it okay to march to a different beat.
